i try to write full song compositions with words and lyrics and all.
most times i think the stuff i have would only need minor adjustments to make it a whole lot better.

unfortunately i haven't a clue on how to get someone interested in my stuff. i tried the usual advice of posting online but that doesn't quite cut it.

plus, i don't do stages at all. i'm scared stiff of 'em.

i guess what i want is someone who could take care of the pitching thing or who would be interested in performing them outright so i can focus on just writing.

advice and linkups would be much appreciated.....

Sola my best encouragement to you is to keep writing. Also do it for your own personal enjoyment because you like it and enjoy it. Most of the best musicians and songwriters in the world started writing and playing music at very young ages and have stuck with it. The longer you stick with something the better become at it. Also I would make a demo CD for your friends and post the music in more places like Purevolume, Myspace and even Youtube. Then your music will get out there.

About stages, just realize that no one cares about the little stuff and the more you do something the better you will get.

Believe it or not there was a time when the Beatles sucked and they played for 5 years in strip clubs in hamburg Germany to eventually become one of the best rock bands in history. There road definitely wasn't easy. Just keep working and sticking with it. You have a very good start it just takes practices and a few failures to do very well.

Take the bull by the horns!
For demo music go see local area musicians perform and start talking it up with them to at least get someone intrested. Chances are they'll have some sort of intrest in recording a guide track for you. Vocalist, I'd start with the karaoke nights at your local establishments to find someone that suits your song style.

It's like anything else in the industry, you have to sell your product before anyone comes beating your door down for it.

Good luck,

Steve

as long as you like your songs you should be proud
i'm useless at writing music but i write a lot of lyrics and sing them at my school.
try and show your friends your lyrics they could help you a lot.
and if anyone should sing your songs it should be you.
as long as you like it who cares what everyone else thinks!

@sdelgo: yeah that approach works real good... when you sing what everyone in your hood pretty much expects. some of the most popular artists here are tuface idibia, 9ice, whiz kid. just listen to a few of their songs and go figure.

i've actually been to a couple music producers who told me my stuff was ok but not right for the market here. they specifically told me to post stuff online and hope for the best. yikes!!!

@grace: thanks for the encouraging words. feel pumped already but i really don't intend to perform. i just wanna write.

@erin: thanks girl. muchos appreciated
