Military Rule in Egypt

Hi everyone,

Since February 2011, Egypt has been under military rule after a revolution ousted the Egyptian dictator Mubarak. The governing military body, which is called the "Supreme Council of the Armed Forces", has since promised to hand over power to a civilian government in 6 months. That did NOT happen...and in the mean time, protests have continued and thousands of Egyptians and peaceful protesters have been wrongfully detained/imprisoned, tried in military courts..and severely beaten by riot control police and military police during demonstrations.

Yesterday, 25th of Jan. 2012, millions of Egyptians took to the streets to commemorate the day of their still unfinished revolution and demand immediate end to military rule (see pictures here). We demand that the military council hand over power immediately because we want to make sure that in the future we will have complete oversight for our elected parliament over military budget and that the military commanders and the army will be directed by our elected government (like it is in the US and any other true democracy).

I know about 80% of this website visitors are from the US, so What can YOU do to support me and all the other Egyptians in our quest for freedom?

Ask President Obama to support democracy in Egypt

President Obama has supported the Egyptian revolution last year, although reluctantly at first, and now is the time to continue this support.

Thanks...

Have Fun and Enjoy the website,

Regards,
Mahmoud Ibrahim
